How many times have you seen copy that proclaims the ease of working with a “guru’s” system only to find that it’s just an ebook that leaves you standing by the road on a 100 degree day with a dead battery?

But I recently ran across a system that seems like it may actually deliver on what it promises. It’s called Copy N Profit and it’s from Jamie Lewis, one of the Net’s wunderkinds.

You literally do what the title says: copy the exact campaign and start to make money. Instead of reading a book and trying to figure out how a particular affiliate campaign was structured, you get it all laid out for you.

There is so much swirling around on the Net these days about starting an online business and then making it flourish. And it seems like everyone has a program or report or home study course to help you do just that.

I’ve been looking at lots of these programs for a couple of reasons:

• I like to see what’s out there and see whether I connect with anyone
• I also like to study how they put out their launches for products — this gives me ideas for my own

It’s really easy though to get paralyzed — like a deer caught in the headlights — with all the choices. And, let’s face it, some of these study courses are thousands of dollars.

Here’s My Take

When someone tells you to study with this person or that person, don’t just blow it off.  Listen to the person recommended for a short period of time. Try what they’re suggesting. Most good solid marketers will give you some tips for free.

After finding the person you click with — and not everyone clicks with the same one — stay with just one coach. Switching around and flitting from one mentor to another is like training for the Olympics with a different coach every day.

My Recommendation

You didn’t think I’d lead you down the primrose path without a recommend, didja?

My mentor of choice is Howie Schwartz. Can’t explain why. His methods just finally clicked with me and I’ve purchased two things of his. Finally, it’s like grabbing a light in a dark closet. I unsderstand his methods and can apply them.

And that’s really the name of the game, yeah? Being able to apply what you learn.

Hi All:

Since Christmas is a time of renewal and rebirth, I’ve decided to let you shadow me as I venture out into the online marketing arena.

Now, I’ve made a little money from IM in the past year or two but not enough. Not nearly enough.

I thought I’d use Mike’s instant platform as a test run for some things. It’s certainly got a great concept — Mike is letting us partner with him and has spent buckets of time and money to create a very user friendly platform for those who are new to IM and blogging in general.

Goals. Yeah. Those things. Sometimes I think they’re worthwhile and sometimes I think they’re barriers. Anybody else feel that way?

My biggest issue at this moment is having waaay too much affiliate stuff and courses. I need to focus. I also need to be diligent about working on it everyday.

IM gurus out there talk about finding a way that works for you and repeating it. But there isn’t one single way that works all the time.

As a chef, I tend to mix `n match recipes to suit my tastes.

And that’s exactly what I plan to do here.

So. Let’s get started.

My first step will be to organize the products and programs I already have. Next, pick one and use promotion tools found in the affiliates area. Fine. But where are you going to promote?

Hi Again!

Okay. I’ve sat down at my computer and started to go through everything I’ve signed up for and I thought I’d make sure you knew what I’ve done to organize things.

Sometimes I just need a plain old pencil and paper, know what I mean? I took out an old composition book — remember them? the ones with a black and white mottled cover? They’re great for journaling and keeping your ideas and information in one place.

I started writing down each affiliate program I have and even opening them up to refresh my memory about what they are, what they do and what I can sell as an affiliate. Some have just affiliate rights, some are private label (or PLR) and some have master resale rights (that’s when you can sell them and give away the right to resell to your customer).

I’ll also use an Excel spreadsheet to keep a copy on my laptop. Here are the headings I’ve used:

Name of Program

Type (software, ebook, home study course…)

Rights/License

Category

The category part is important for me because I do a lot of things: health, wealth, electronics, that sort of thing.

That’s about it for now. Need to get cookin’ for Christmas.

It’s been a few weeks since I last blogged and that’s because my schedule was upside down. Making ends meet isn’t just about money; it’s also about time.

People are scrambling. Whether you have a traditional job — my father in law can’t get his head around my self-employment — or are facing a layoff or are self employed, times are tough.

So what do you do? What do you do when your savings is running out, you have a family depending on you and Christmas is around the corner?

The Internet.

I’ve been making a living on the Net for 5 years. Is it a 6 figure income? Nope. But I’ve never missed a mortgage payment. Renowned Internet Marketer Jim Edwards said it best, I think: If you can make a little from a lot of sources, that’s your ticket.

Sure, there are lots of “gurus” out there touting their latest program and telling you that they make a comfy 6 or 7 figure income working 3 minutes a day.

Don’t believe it.

Being a self-employed Internet marketer is hard work. But worth while. It’ll help you make ends meet.

And making ends meet in this depression — sorry, that’s exactly what it is — will be a daily challenge. I was once chastised by a listener on a 3 Chix teleseminar for saying we were in a recession as long ago as this past March. The Economic Council says the recession started in December 2007 — ah! Sweet vindication!

My good friend Beth Erickson says this: Imperfect action trumps perfect inaction every time. She’s right.

Got bills to pay? Go out and do something about it. If you’re sitting at home wondering how to pay the rent,   get on the Net and start a new career.

Just do something.

And you’ll make ends meet.

The US election is now behind us and the souring US economy is in front of us. Is it a recession? No, I think it’s a depression — and I’m not alone in this thought.

On Monday, 11/10, Circuit City filed for bankruptcy protection. And I was just about to buy an external hard drive from them… oh, wait, that could help them still, yes?

I had a friend ask me about mortgages just the other day because she’d found a property to buy that she really liked. After all, the real estate market is very definitely a buyer’s market right now.

But — and here’s the big BUT — she didn’t want to sit around waiting for a bank mortgage with the thought that another savvy investor might snap it up. If you’ve ever applied for a mortgage, you know that it can take 30-60 days to get it approved, all the paperwork done and then get final approval to close.

I’ve done some research and learned about a concept called hard money lending. I know! I thought the same thing: hard money as opposed to what? Soft money?

But there’s a great book out there — and it’s even digital so you can download it at 4 AM — called Hard Money. Looks interesting so I thought I’d pass the info on to you.

I recently joined Neverblue Ad Network and had some trouble getting it to work. If you’re unfamiliar with Neverblue, they’re a great CPA — or cost per action — network where you can earn some serious money doing lead generation.

the problem I had was that there is literally no owner’s manual for this site and so I thought I’d send out a blog to anyone who runs into the same issue I had.

When you set up the sites you want to use for search marketing, you’ll be asked whether or not you incentivize.

Don’t check the box that you do.

It isn’t that you’ll get in trouble; it just makes getting email text with your affiliate link impossible on programs that do not use incentives.

It’s as easy as not checking a box.

Once I tumbled to that, I was up and running.
